What is the nature of abundance?

The following is an incredible message about the true nature of abundance (plus a new video at the end). It was posted in our Live Brightly membership where we are exploring as a group Prosperity, Flow, and Abundance for the first quarter of the year. This conversation compliments the new course on Abundance that was recently shared in the membership -- helping you clear the three areas of shame, interrupt healing patterns of scarcity, and to experience a greater flow of prosperity. This exploration of abundance goes far beyond the idea of money, which is why it felt so timely to share with you today.

Please read slowly and enjoy like a restorative meditative journey. We know you’ll be deeply and positively impacted by the realizations they inspire:

Today’s Invitation — What is the Nature of Abundance?

While the theme of our first quarter is abundance, flow, and prosperity, it isn’t limited to ideas or beliefs about money. Even when more money would be a welcomed blessing into your bank account, one does not attract more money by obsessing on it or ignoring it. Instead, the nature of abundance becomes fertile seeds well-planted by focusing on your most primary resource: time.

Whenever we rush through tasks, feel as if we are in a hurried ‘race against time’ scenario, or even plagued by the fear of missing out, we inform the subconscious mind that we are in an environment worthy of the same survival mode used to run away from predators in the wild. While we live in a modern-day society, the subconscious doesn’t know the difference between you being hunted in the wild and an engrained tendency to rush through tasks. As a result, the more often we do things only for the sake of moving beyond it, we are likely to only perceive the options that keep us maintaining a perceptual reality of creating more time to rush, struggle, scrape by, and barely survive.

Even when resources far exceed the rushing we have grown accustom to living out, there is little to no access to being aware of all that we have and authentically grateful for having it, if and when, we are playing out a pattern of survival that is rooted in tendencies to rush from task to task. It is also why those who have depleted immune systems help their bodies heal by learning to move in a slower mindful manner.

On the other side of the coin, those who spend most of their time contemplating spiritual concepts or overly-processing their past tend to live in such sedentary states that little tasks tend to create big experiences of depletion. In Eastern medicine, this phenomenon is called ‘chi stagnation’. It can be remedied by learning to be more active in short spans of duration, more time throughout the day, no matter how slowly one must move.

When I was in my deepest states of depletion post-awakening, I was also my most inactive. The remedy I received from my inner guidance was to replace my love for meditating much of the day with walking around my house or neighborhood every few hours. Within a few days of this process, I had more energy and was naturally attracted to being engaged with tasks, instead of avoiding things I assumed would either deplete me or take time away from meditating. From this new stand point, activity became the new meditation, whereas sitting meditation had been practiced to the point of becoming a new form of avoidance.

In either case, instead of doing at an unconscious rate of speed and resting at the brink of exhaustion, we ultimately learn to employ any degree of ‘doing’ from a more aligned and mindful state of being. As a rule of thumb, if you are unaware of your breath while taking action we are more than likely moving too quickly or trying to get to the end of a task rather than embrace the journey of experiencing it.

As your primary relationship with abundance, we learn to slow the pace of our lives, where more can get done at a more steady pace than pushing too hard in one area only to be too exhausted for the other areas of life awaiting our time, care, and attention. In celebration of our first quarter, may today be an invitation to amplify abundance, flow, and prosperity by being more mindful with how we move through time and space, which ultimately tells the universe:

“With this more mindful speed, I am ready to use my time more wisely.”

In doing so, we begin to naturally perceive having enough time to do everything needing to be done with less resonance to give our time to things that merely distract.

To embrace this truth as an inspired action step you can invite into the gift of today, please consider the following:

  1. What am I willing to do less of to set aside the things I use to distract myself?

  2. What are the tasks I have used these distractions to put off or avoid?

  3. What are the tasks I can do just a little bit slower, so to be aware of my breath as I do it?

  4. Instead of exhausting myself by moving too quickly or trying to do too many things at once, can I adjust my focus and speed to see how much can get done by being steady and consistent?

  5. Even when its time for rest, can I take time to pause and breathe, go for a gentle slow-paced walk, or even make time to stretch my body? Can options like these replace a tendency to pattern the body with bursts of ‘doing’, while confusing self-care with being sedentary and checked out on social media, game apps, Netflix binge-watching, or even meditating for more than 30 minutes last a time?

Whichever of these choices we are willing to embrace, may today be an invitation to make the most of the precious time we are given throughout our journey. If you found yourself rushing through this post in attempt to get to the end, I encourage you to re-read this post aloud or at a much slower pace.

Even for those who have read or sensed that time is an illusion, I would so humbly say — time isn’t an illusion until its been mastered. In truth, time is both a dimension and a tool assisting us in anchoring our Spirit into physical form, as we learn to embody and take action from the eternal consciousness of that Source.
