The Difference Between Honesty and Oversharing
Dearest Emerging Healer,
We often think transparency means giving every personal detail of our journey, but true honesty in leadership is not oversharing—it is condensing the truth into the value of a breakthrough.
This is a huge issue for healers, guides, and sensitive people. We want so deeply to be seen as authentic. We want our audience, our clients, and our loved ones to know that we are real, that we have struggled, and that we are not hiding behind a polished facade.
So, we over-explain. We share the messy middle while we are still bleeding in it. We give the play-by-play of our pain, believing that the more details we provide, the more honest we are being.
But there is a profound difference between honesty and oversharing.
When we first began building The Healer's Code Academy, we had to navigate this exact line. As a husband and wife team teaching sacred relationship and spiritual alchemy, the temptation was always there to share every bump in the road to prove we were "doing the work." But we quickly realized that when you share from the wound instead of the scar, you are not leading—you are processing in public.

The ego uses oversharing as a defense mechanism. It says, "If I tell them everything, they can't judge me. If I show them all my flaws, they will know I am authentic." It is a subtle performance. We over-explain ourselves to prove we are real, which actually dilutes our power. It shifts the energy from serving the listener to seeking validation from them.
True honesty in leadership does not require you to open every drawer of your personal life. It requires you to do the inner work privately, extract the wisdom, and offer the distilled breakthrough.
Your audience does not need the chronological timeline of your pain. They need the medicine you forged while walking through it.
When you stop trying to prove your authenticity through oversharing, you reclaim your energetic boundaries. You realize that you can be profoundly honest while remaining deeply private. You can share the exact truth of a lesson without having to expose the raw details of the classroom.
Where in your life or your work are you over-explaining yourself to prove you are authentic? What would happen if you stopped sharing the play-by-play details, and simply shared the breakthrough?
Changing the dynamics of the world one family at a time.
We just finished an in-person weekend with a family that we work closely with -- helping them resolve generational patterns so that they can experience even more of the love and connection between them while they steward a large family business together. What a rewarding and deeply fulfilling honor to support that level of growth, that will ripple out into the world in profound ways (for generations!).
Healing and Transformational Coaching is at the heart of the work we do and is the work we teach others to facilitate.
If you are ready to step into a deeper level of leadership—one that helps guide this level of change with others, join us in person at one of our remaining events. These are intimate experiences where we will be diving deep into how to hold your power and share your medicine with the world.
